Why Vegas works for the cannabis traveler
The missing half of cannabis tourism
Plenty of destinations will sell a visitor cannabis. Far fewer give that visitor a legal place to consume it. That gap is the quiet frustration of cannabis travel: you arrive somewhere legal, buy something interesting, and then discover the street is off-limits, the rideshare is off-limits, and the hotel may be too.
Buying cannabis is the easy part. Having somewhere lawful to enjoy it is what makes a destination worth the flight.
Las Vegas is one of the few U.S. cities that has begun closing that gap. Nevada licenses adult-use retail stores, and it also licenses cannabis consumption lounges — rooms where a 21+ visitor can legally consume what they bought on site. For a traveler, that turns cannabis from a logistical problem into an actual evening out.
Add a city built entirely around visitors — late hours, walkable resort corridors, cheap taxis and rideshare at every curb, and food available at any hour — and the pieces fit together unusually well.

Cannabis as a Vegas attraction
Most cannabis shopping, anywhere in the country, is a short errand. Planet 13 is built on the opposite premise: a large complex just off the Strip at 2548 W Desert Inn Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89109, designed to be walked through rather than passed through.
The Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board currently lists Planet 13 at this address as a licensed Southern Nevada retail cannabis store. Planet 13’s own website states the Las Vegas store operates 24/7 — worth confirming before a late-night visit, since hours can change.

A legal place to get high, socially
DAZED! Consumption Lounge sits inside the Planet 13 complex at 2548 W Desert Inn Rd. The Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board currently lists DAZED! as an active adult-use cannabis consumption lounge.
This is the part of the trip that is genuinely hard to replicate elsewhere in the United States: instead of buying cannabis and then hunting for a lawful place to use it, a visitor can consume on site, seated, with staff, food and a room designed for it.
DAZED! currently advertises premium flower, concentrates, infused and canna-cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, shareable food, VIP and lounge seating, and events and entertainment.

The Las Vegas dispensary experience
Shopping as part of the trip
Adult-use cannabis in Nevada must be bought from a state-licensed retail store, and you must be 21 or older with valid government-issued ID. Out-of-state visitors can buy at licensed adult-use stores on the same terms as residents — there is no Nevada residency requirement for adult-use purchases.
What varies is the room. Some Las Vegas stores are quick, transactional and efficient; others lean into the city’s appetite for spectacle. If you only make one stop, make it a store you actually want to spend time in — the difference is the whole point of shopping for cannabis in Vegas rather than at home.
Before visiting any store or lounge, confirm it holds a current Nevada license through the CCB list of licensees.

Where you sleep is a legal question
This is where cannabis travelers most often get caught out. Cannabis being legal in Nevada does not mean a hotel permits it. Hotels and resorts set their own rules, and many Las Vegas properties prohibit smoking of any kind in guest rooms, with cleaning fees attached.
HIGH TRAVEL will not recommend a specific property until its current cannabis policy is independently verified. No accommodation is named in this guide for that reason.
Until then, the practical approach:
- Ask the property directly, in writing, about its cannabis and smoking policy before booking
- Assume smoking is prohibited in the room unless the property confirms otherwise
- Use a licensed consumption lounge for social consumption
- Remember that consuming on private property requires the owner's permission

Food, nightlife & cannabis culture
A city that never makes you rush
Las Vegas is unusually well suited to a cannabis evening for an unglamorous reason: almost nothing closes. Food, entertainment and transportation run late, so a lounge visit doesn’t have to be scheduled around a last call somewhere else.
Planet 13’s complex includes Pizza 13 on site, which solves the obvious problem without a second trip. Beyond that, the city’s late-night dining, residency shows, neon-lit downtown and desert day trips all pair naturally with a slower, more sensory pace.
One caution worth repeating: cannabis and alcohol are kept apart by Nevada’s rules. Licensed consumption lounges do not serve alcohol, and DAZED! states that alcohol, nicotine and tobacco are not permitted.

- Cannabis may be consumed on private property where the property owner permits it.
- Cannabis may be consumed at a state-licensed cannabis consumption lounge.
Driving
- Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal.
- Cannabis cannot be consumed in a moving vehicle — that includes passengers.
- Plan your ride before you consume: rideshare, taxi or a sober designated driver.
- If cannabis is part of the evening, leave the rental car parked.
Buying cannabis in Las Vegas does not mean you can smoke it on the Strip, in a casino, in a rideshare or in a hotel room. Public consumption is prohibited, and hotels set their own property rules. Do not carry cannabis across state lines or international borders — including through the airport.
Getting around
Do not drive. Really.
Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal in Nevada, and cannabis cannot be consumed in a moving vehicle — by the driver or by a passenger. Plan transportation before you consume, not after.
Las Vegas makes this easy: taxis queue outside the resorts, rideshare is available around the clock, and most cannabis destinations sit a short ride from the Strip. If cannabis is part of your plan for the evening, leave the rental car parked.
